The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued an update on the weather across Western Washington, reporting that showers and thunderstorms are currently moving northward into Puget Sound. Although these storms are gradually weakening, frequent lightning is still observed. The severe weather is associated with a strong upper-level low that will deepen off the coast and bring a shortwave trough across the region tonight.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop this evening and continue through the night, particularly impacting the Southern Cascades and possibly severe. The storms are anticipated to reach Puget Sound between 7 and 10 PM, moving northward to Whatcom County and the North Cascades by midnight. The unsettled weather pattern will persist into next week, with ongoing chances for additional showers and thunderstorms. Residents should stay updated on the weather and seek shelter during storms.
