The National Weather Service forecasts a week of breezy and dry conditions with temperatures slightly below normal for the Reno area. As the region experiences a southwesterly flow influenced by an upper air trough in the Eastern Pacific and a ridge over the central United States, breezy conditions are expected to persist through Tuesday.

Elevated fire weather concerns are anticipated, particularly on Monday and Tuesday, in northern areas near the Oregon border. The combination of strong winds and low relative humidity, dropping to the lower teens, may lead to critical fire weather conditions. Daytime highs during this period are projected to range from the 80s to low 90s in valley areas, with cooler temperatures in the Sierra Mountains, reaching the 60s to mid-70s.

As the week progresses, a change in the upper air pattern is forecasted. By Wednesday, a low pressure system from an Arctic trough is expected to move southward over the Washington coast. While the southwesterly flow will continue briefly, daytime temperatures are likely to cool slightly, with typical afternoon breezes persisting. The end of the week could bring well-below normal temperatures, gusty winds, and increasing chances of precipitation.
