Chicago's Favorite Cheesecake Bakes 1,000 pound dessert for DNC crowd

The Democratic National Convention is making a sweet impression with two giant cheesecakes from Chicago's renowned Eli's Cheesecake.

The first 1,000-pound cheesecake, adorned with placards of all 50 states, was a hit at Saturday’s Welcome Party at Navy Pier, according to the company. Convention-goers will enjoy over 5,400 pounds of Eli's Cheesecake throughout the event, Eli's Cheesecake officials stated in a written statement.

Marc Schulman, President of Eli's, expressed excitement about contributing to Chicago’s history, especially given Vice President Harris’ love for cooking. Eli’s has a tradition of creating monumental cakes for major events, including presidential inaugurations, the company stated.
