The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego has predicted a noticeable shift in the weather for the region, with cooler temperatures and a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms in southeastern San Diego County this afternoon.

A coastal eddy has deepened the marine layer, resulting in low clouds along the coast that may extend into inland valleys by Friday morning. A large low-pressure system developing along the West Coast will bring a cooling trend through Friday and Saturday, with high temperatures in the mountains, inland valleys, and high desert dropping 10 to 15 degrees below average.

While temperatures will be cooler, humidity levels in the low desert are expected to rise due to a gulf surge, leading to muggy conditions. The chance of thunderstorms in southeastern San Diego County remains low but cannot be ruled out.

Looking ahead, a warming trend is expected to begin on Sunday, with temperatures gradually rising through Tuesday. Some monsoonal moisture may return by the middle of next week, but the forecast remains uncertain.
