Monterey Beach Hotel, the only beachfront property on the Monterey Peninsula, has officially reopened today after an extensive renovation and rebranding effort led by Ascendant Capital Partners, Highgate, and Centerbridge Partners. The hotel, now part of Marriott's Tribute Portfolio, has been transformed to embrace the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region.

Located along the iconic Highway 1 and just moments from downtown Monterey, the 192-room hotel, including four suites, now offers versatile meeting and event spaces, revitalized culinary venues, and more. The design, spearheaded by LA-based Indidesign, integrates natural materials and bespoke furnishings, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow that highlights the hotel's spectacular ocean views.

"Monterey Beach Hotel embodies the essence of the Monterey Peninsula and the central California coastal experience," said Alex Halpern, Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Ascendant. "We are excited to reintroduce this iconic property with a new aesthetic and elevated experiences that reflect Monterey's charm."

The hotel's three distinct dining venues—Lobby Lounge, The Lantern Room, and Tidewater—offer chef-driven interpretations of central California coast flavors, led by Resident Culinary Advisor Paul Corsentino and Executive Chef Jose Velasquez. The food and beverage program, in partnership with local purveyors and winemaker Ian Brand, underscores the hotel's commitment to the community and sustainability.

Beyond its private beach access and coastal views, Monterey Beach Hotel features a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, Scandinavian-inspired contrast therapy with barrel saunas and ice baths (debuting this fall), and complementary e-bikes. With over 7,500 square feet of meeting space and 32,500 square feet of private beach access, the hotel is equipped to host everything from beachside weddings to corporate retreats.

"We are excited to welcome new travelers and community members to Monterey Beach Hotel," said General Manager Nathan Hanner. "Our property truly stands out with a reimagined hotel experience, premium dining offerings, and best-in-class hospitality."
