Central California's weather will see significant changes this week, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford. While today may bring highs of at least 95 degrees in the Central Valley, a cooling trend is expected late in the week. Temperatures are forecast to drop by 10-15 degrees below normal by Friday and Saturday, with highs potentially failing to reach 80 degrees in some areas.

However, the weather shift also brings increased fire risks, particularly in eastern Kern County, where breezy winds and low humidity could fuel grass fires. As temperatures cool, there's also a 40-50% chance of a dusting of snow on Tioga Pass in the Yosemite high country by Saturday morning.

After the cooler weekend, temperatures are expected to rebound, with a return to above-normal heat next week. By midweek, the San Joaquin Valley could see triple-digit temperatures again.
