The San Diego region is set for a gradual warming trend through Tuesday, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service. Residents can expect temperatures to rise 3 to 7 degrees today west of the mountains, while desert areas may see slightly cooler conditions compared to yesterday.

As high pressure builds over California, the marine layer will become shallower, leading to night and morning low clouds and patchy fog mainly along the coast and into the western valleys. High temperatures will continue to climb into Tuesday, reaching near or slightly above normal levels for late August.

By midweek, a minor cooling trend is expected as an upper low passes through the Pacific Northwest and another weak low develops off the California coast. This will bring temperatures closer to average from Wednesday through the weekend.
