Northern California is set to experience increasingly warm and dry weather this week, with interior temperatures possibly nearing 100°F by midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

Today, temperatures in the region's interior are expected to rise into the low to mid-80s, reaching nearly 90°F in southern Mendocino and Lake counties. Breezy northwest winds, especially in higher elevations, will accompany the warming trend, with gusts of 10-15 mph expected this afternoon.

As the week progresses, conditions will become even warmer and drier as an upper ridge builds over the area. By midweek, temperatures are forecast to approach 100°F in some interior locations, with relative humidity levels dropping to 15-25%, raising fire weather concerns, particularly in Del Norte County where strong northeasterly winds are expected to develop.

While temperatures continue to rise, residents are advised to prepare for the heat and stay aware of potential fire risks, especially in interior regions with low humidity. Looking ahead, there is some uncertainty about potential weather changes late next weekend as models suggest the possibility of a developing upper low off the Pacific Northwest coast, though confidence in this forecast remains low.
