Hurricane Hone is slowly departing from the island of Hawaii after battering the region with strong winds and heavy rainfall. As of 2 p.m., the Tropical Storm warning for Hawaii County has been lifted.

At 5 p.m., the Central Pacific Hurricane Center reported that Hone, now a Category 1 hurricane, had weakened slightly, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and higher gusts. The hurricane was located approximately 175 miles west of Kailua-Kona and 160 miles south-southwest of Honolulu.

Hone is expected to continue weakening as it moves westward, staying on a track south of the remaining Hawaiian Islands. Meanwhile, forecasters are also monitoring Hurricane Gilma and newly-formed Tropical Storm Hector in the Eastern Pacific.
