The San Joaquin Valley is expected to see a return of triple-digit temperatures this week, with a 40-60% chance of afternoon highs exceeding 100°F on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford. Cities such as Madera and Hanford have over an 80% probability of reaching these highs on Wednesday.

As temperatures rise, low daytime humidity and poor overnight recovery will elevate the risk of grass fires in eastern Kern County and the West Side Hills. While the chance of mountain thunderstorms this weekend has decreased, any outflow winds from isolated storms could further increase fire danger. Cooler temperatures are expected by Sunday, but above-normal temperatures may return by early September.
