Bally’s Corporation has announced that the long-standing landmark will be imploded on October 9, marking the first time in nearly a decade that a major Strip hotel has been brought down in such a grandiose manner.

The Tropicana, known for its rich history and storied past, closed its doors in April to pave the way for the proposed Oakland A’s stadium. According to Clark County building permit records, the implosion will involve the demolition of both the 22-story reinforced concrete Tropicana Club Tower and the 22-story structural steel Tropicana Tower.
