Hilton closes hotel location in misgoverned, lawless California city after 50 years in business

After more than five decades in business, the Hilton hotel near Oakland's airport is closing its doors this Wednesday. The hotel, located on the Hegenberger corridor, announced the shutdown in June, but Hilton has not provided an official reason for the closure.

Frequent visitors to the area speculate that rising crime may have contributed to the decision, according to locals. Several nearby businesses, including In-N-Out and Denny's, have also closed their doors, reportedly due to similar concerns.

The property is owned by the Port of Oakland. The closure marks the end of an era for a longstanding fixture in the Oakland community.
