The Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees the Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® service, is ramping up rail safety efforts this September in conjunction with Rail Safety Month. Teaming up with California Operation Lifesaver (CAOL) and the Los Angeles Angels, the initiative aims to enhance rail safety education through various media channels.

Throughout September, CAOL and LOSSAN will launch a multi-faceted safety campaign featuring rail safety ads on streaming platforms, digital radio, and via geofenced mobile notifications in high-incident areas. The campaign also includes signage in risky rail corridor zones and outreach efforts targeting unhoused individuals near tracks.

A key event will take place on September 4, 2024, at Angel Stadium, where a rail safety booth will be set up prior to the Los Angeles Angels’ game. CAOL experts will offer crucial safety tips, addressing California's leading position in rail trespassing and grade crossing fatalities. Additionally, a radio spot on Angels Radio AM 830 will broadcast throughout the month to further promote rail safety.
