The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is stepping up its efforts to ensure road safety during the Labor Day weekend. Starting Friday and running through Monday, drivers across the state will encounter DUI checkpoints, saturation patrols, and an increased CHP presence aimed at preventing impaired driving and ensuring safe travel.

“We are committed to keeping our roads safe and urge everyone to plan ahead,” said CHP spokesperson. “Designate a sober driver or use a ride-share service, and if you see an impaired driver, report them immediately to 9-1-1.”

The heightened enforcement comes as part of a statewide initiative to address the increased traffic and potential hazards associated with the holiday. The CHP encourages all travelers to stay vigilant and prioritize safety to avoid accidents and ensure a smooth, enjoyable Labor Day weekend.
