Northern California is gearing up for a stretch of hot and dry weather this week, with temperatures expected to soar into the triple digits across the Valley, Delta, and Foothills. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from Wednesday morning through Friday evening as temperatures rise rapidly, bringing Moderate to Major HeatRisk to the region.

Currently, dry air and clear skies dominate the area, with morning temperatures in the upper 60s. Breezy northerly winds are forecasted to sweep through the Valley today, potentially reaching gusts of 20 mph or greater along the I-5 corridor. These winds, combined with dry conditions, will elevate fire weather risks across the region.

Temperatures are expected to peak on Thursday and Friday, with the likelihood of reaching 100 degrees or higher across much of the area. Overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the mid-60s to mid-70s. The heat wave is anticipated to ease slightly by the weekend as a new weather system moves in, bringing a slight cooling trend and the possibility of mountain showers and thunderstorms in the Sierra and southern Cascades.
