Chula Vista restaurant owners have been given until Monday evening to dismantle their parklets, which are outdoor dining patios built over parking spaces. The removal deadline, initially set for the end of July, has been extended to September 2 at 5 p.m. Letters were sent to local business owners informing them of this requirement. Parklets, introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, provided crucial support for many restaurants. However, the South Bay mayor has announced that new and improved versions of these outdoor dining spaces are needed as the city revisits its policy on outdoor dining.
