Phoenix, AZ – The National Weather Service has issued a warning for ongoing excessive heat, with temperatures soaring between 112 and 118 degrees across the region this week. Unseasonably strong high pressure has kept temperatures high, with today’s forecast expecting temperatures near 110 degrees in Phoenix and up to 113 degrees in the western deserts.

While the high pressure system shifts east toward the Four Corners area, moisture levels are expected to rise slightly, offering some modest relief. This increase in moisture could bring isolated showers and thunderstorms to higher terrain areas today and Saturday, with a 10-15% chance of precipitation. Breezy easterly winds are also forecast for the mornings through the weekend.

Though temperatures are expected to drop slightly this weekend, highs will still remain several degrees above average, with Phoenix seeing between 104-108 degrees and other desert areas nearing 110 degrees. Rain chances diminish after Sunday as drier air moves in, but isolated storms could persist in parts of southeastern California.
