The National Weather Service in Reno has forecasted breezy conditions and a gradual cool-down for the region over the coming week. Afternoon winds are expected to remain strong, with gusts reaching 25-30 mph today and Sunday, potentially peaking at 35 mph in isolated areas. A weak low-pressure system moving inland will cause ridge-level winds to intensify overnight, but lower elevation gusts are expected to be less severe.

Temperatures will remain above average through early next week, with highs easing slightly. By Tuesday, temperatures will return to near seasonal norms, with highs in the upper 80s for western Nevada and mid to upper 70s in Sierra communities.

A more significant cool-down is anticipated mid to late next week as a stronger low-pressure system moves across the region. Temperatures are expected to drop 5-10 degrees from Tuesday's highs, with cooler conditions and highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s by Thursday. The system may also bring light rain showers primarily north of I-80.
