Southern California Lottery Player Hits Mega Millions Jackpot, Wins Over $2 Million

A lucky Southern Californian has become the state's newest millionaire following the Mega Millions drawing on Friday night. While the $740 million jackpot, the seventh-largest in game history, was not won, a ticket purchased in Cathedral City secured a substantial prize.

The winning numbers drawn were 6, 23, 41, 59, 63, with the Mega Ball number being 25. The Megaplier was 2X. Although no ticket matched all six numbers to claim the jackpot, one ticket matched five numbers and will earn $2,233,779.

The winning ticket was sold at an ARCO ampm gas station located at 27900 Date Palm Drive in Cathedral City, Riverside County.

The Mega Millions jackpot, which has been growing since a $552 million prize was won in Illinois in early June, will increase to an estimated $800 million for the next drawing on September 10.
