    Major construction projects to shut lanes along California's busy Interstate 80 to and from Nevada

    PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES – Caltrans is alerting motorists to ongoing construction along Interstate 80 (I-80) in the Sierra Corridor, where multiple projects and emergency repairs are leading to lane and ramp closures. Drivers are urged to plan ahead as delays of up to two hours may occur, with construction expected to last through the summer and fall.

    While emergency repairs are nearing completion for the season, major projects remain active. Below is a schedule for lane closures for the upcoming week, September 9-14:

    Eastbound I-80

    • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project: Lane and ramp closures from 6 a.m. Monday, September 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, September 13, and again from 7 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 14.
    • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project: Lane closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 9 through Thursday, September 12. Additional work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, September 13.
    • Emergency Repairs: Various locations will see lane closures, including from Drum Forebay to Nyack and from Big Bend to Rainbow.

    Westbound I-80

    • Restriping Project: Lane closures between the CHP Scales and SR-267 from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 9 through Thursday, September 12.
    • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project: Lane closures between Soda Springs and Troy from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 10 through Friday, September 13.

    Motorists are advised to plan for delays, allow extra travel time, and check for updated information on project schedules, which may be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen factors.
