Record-Breaking Adoption at Berkeley's Bark Around The Block, California's largest adoption event

The 12th annual Bark Around The Block event in Berkeley was a resounding success, with 150 animals finding new homes on Saturday. Hosted by Berkeley Humane, the adopt-a-thon featured pets from over 25 shelters and rescues across the Bay Area.

The event, the largest pet adoption gathering in the state, also provided free veterinary care, microchips, and vaccines, organizers stated. Adoption fees were waived by Berkeley Humane and reduced by many partners, further encouraging adoptions. This year’s total surpassed last year’s 126 adoptions, highlighting the event's growing impact in helping animals find loving families, according to the Berkeley Humane Society.
