Texas Governor Abbott Activates Statewide Response Resources Ahead of Tropical Storm

Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to activate additional state resources in preparation for potential impacts from a developing storm in the Gulf of Mexico. With heavy rainfall and flash flooding expected along the Texas coast, state emergency services are on high alert.

"Texas stands ready to provide all available resources," Abbott said, urging Texans to take precautions. The National Weather Service reports a 90% chance the storm will intensify, bringing 8-10 inches of rain and possible coastal flooding.

In response, TDEM has raised the readiness level of the Texas State Operations Center to 24-hour operations, deploying swiftwater rescue teams, helicopters, and other emergency assets across state agencies.
