Southbound Interstate 680 between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and the I-580/I-680 connector in Pleasanton will be fully closed from 9 p.m. on Friday, September 20, to 4 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024. The closure will allow for critical pavement repairs to improve road conditions and enhance motorist safety.

While the southbound I-680 will be inaccessible during the closure, the I-580/I-680 connector and northbound I-680 will remain open, with traffic being diverted through rightmost lanes. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid congestion in the San Ramon and Dublin areas.

The closure is part of a larger effort to replace deteriorated roadway sections. The work completed during this weekend will significantly reduce the need for further nightly closures. Two additional partial weekend closures are scheduled for October 4-7 and October 18-21, 2024.

Detour routes will be provided, and portable message signs will inform drivers of the closure. In case of rain, the closure will be rescheduled. Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol will be on hand to assist motorists.

    Detours:

    • Motorists from Vacaville, Fairfield, Concord, and Walnut Creek are advised to use I-80 to southbound I-880.
    • Southbound I-680 drivers near Danville can take westbound I-580 or eastbound I-580 to alternative routes.
