Southern California is set to experience a significant shift in weather conditions this week, with cooler temperatures and gusty winds expected across the region. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego, the cooling trend will intensify as onshore flow strengthens, bringing relief to inland areas while also introducing near-critical fire weather conditions in certain areas.

A low-pressure system currently moving inland through the Pacific Northwest is responsible for the cooler air and gusty winds. This system will strengthen onshore flow in Southern California today and Wednesday, pushing cooler air progressively further inland. By Thursday, temperatures are expected to be 5-10 degrees below average for the valleys, mountains, and inland regions of Orange County. Thursday is anticipated to be the coolest day of the week.
