Two top pizza joints in California named best in the world, new ranking finds

SAN FRANCISCO – California has once again made its mark on the global pizza scene, with two of its top pizzerias landing spots in the prestigious 50 Top Pizza rankings. On Tuesday, 50 Top Pizza released its latest list of the world's best pizzerias, recognizing Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco and Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles among the top 10.

Tony's Pizza Napoletana, a renowned institution in the Bay Area, was ranked as the sixth-best pizzeria in the world. It was the only restaurant from the Bay Area to make the list and one of only two California pizzerias to be featured. Pizzeria Sei, based in Los Angeles, also secured a place in the top 10.

In addition to the high-ranking recognition for his restaurant, Tony Gemignani, the owner and master pizzaiolo of Tony's Pizza Napoletana, was awarded the prestigious “Pizza of the Year” honor for his Mission Impossible vegan pie. The innovative creation features Impossible meat and is drizzled with vegan mayo, making it a standout in the growing trend of plant-based cuisine.

Gemignani’s continued success and innovation have solidified his status as a global pizza icon. Tony's Pizza Napoletana, known for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizza, has long been a favorite in San Francisco, attracting pizza lovers from around the world.
