A cooling trend is set to begin across Arizona, with breezy and windy conditions expected over the next few days. According to the National Weather Service, a weather disturbance moving across the western U.S. will bring gusty winds, particularly in southeast California and southwest Arizona. Winds are expected to reach between 25-35 mph, with some areas in Imperial County seeing gusts exceeding 40 mph. The gusty conditions will continue into Thursday, spreading into south-central Arizona.

Alongside the winds, temperatures will gradually cool, with highs in the low 100s in desert communities, closer to normal for this time of year. More noticeable cooling is expected on Thursday and Friday.

Looking ahead, another, stronger upper-level trough combined with moisture from a tropical disturbance near the Baja Peninsula could lead to significant rainfall this weekend. The moisture is expected to increase late Saturday through Sunday, with a 30-50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in central and eastern Arizona. Heavy rainfall could result in multiple inches of rain, raising the risk of flooding in some areas.
