Residents of Western Washington can expect scattered showers this evening and early tonight, as a low-pressure system moves out of the area. However, the threat of thunderstorms, which had been present earlier, has diminished significantly, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle.

Radar data indicates a decrease in shower activity, with lingering rain primarily over the Olympic Peninsula and parts of the southern Cascades. Although some instability remains, especially in mountainous areas, forecasters expect the rain to taper off overnight, leaving drier conditions for the rest of the week.

For the next couple of days, the region will experience dry and calmer weather. However, a new weather system is on the horizon, bringing widespread rainfall to the area starting Saturday. After this round of weekend rain, dry conditions are expected to return at the beginning of next week.
