Beginning December 2, 2024, the historic Wawona Hotel within Yosemite National Park will close its doors for an extensive condition assessment by the National Park Service (NPS). The closure will allow NPS to evaluate the hotel complex more thoroughly following a recent roof replacement project that uncovered additional concerns requiring detailed investigation.

The assessment aims to ensure the preservation and safety of the historic property, which has long been a cherished part of Yosemite's heritage, the National Park Service stated. Visitors are advised to plan their trips accordingly, as the hotel will remain closed throughout the assessment period, according to the National Park Service.
