Southern California is in for a cooler weekend, with high temperatures expected to remain 5 to 10 degrees below average through Sunday. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego, the region will also experience night and morning coastal low clouds that will extend inland to the valleys and foothills.

A stronger low-pressure system is set to move into central California late Sunday night, which will deepen the marine layer and bring additional cooling. The NWS predicts that inland areas could see temperatures drop as much as 15 to 20 degrees below average by Monday. There's also a slight chance for light precipitation from the coast to the mountains early Monday.

For coastal regions, daytime highs will hover in the lower 70s, while inland valleys will see temperatures in the 80s over the weekend. However, by Monday, temperatures for inland valleys are expected to drop to the 70s, with mountain areas seeing highs in the 50s and 60s, and the lower deserts remaining in the 80s.

Cooler temperatures will persist into next week, with only slight warming expected by Tuesday.
