The National Weather Service in Portland has released an updated forecast highlighting a shift to a fall-like weather pattern across the Pacific Northwest over the next week. Following a period of mild, pleasant weather, residents can expect increasing chances for rain and cooler temperatures.

Today, high pressure will bring dry conditions and mild temperatures to the region, with highs in the low to mid 70s inland and cooler 60s along the coast. A mix of sun and clouds is expected, offering a brief window of favorable weather for outdoor activities. However, this pleasant weather will be short-lived as a frontal boundary approaches from the northwest.

Starting Friday evening, the first of several systems will move into western Washington and Oregon, bringing a 15-30% chance of light rain showers to areas including the Long Beach Peninsula, Willapa Hills, and Astoria. The rest of western Oregon and southwest Washington will largely remain dry for the time being.

Cloud cover will increase overnight into Saturday as a stronger frontal system arrives. This front is expected to bring a 60-85% chance of rain to southwest Washington and most of northwest Oregon. Areas from Florence to Eugene and Oakridge may see lower chances of rain, ranging from 40-60%. Post-frontal showers are possible Saturday night into Sunday, with conditions expected to be drier north of Salem.
