The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a forecast update for Northern California, highlighting a series of weather events expected to impact the region. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted across the eastern part of the forecast area through tonight, with lingering showers continuing into Monday.

Breezy west to northwest winds are expected to persist this evening, followed by breezy offshore flow over higher terrain into Monday. An upper-level trough will bring widespread rainfall from Tuesday through Wednesday, followed by a drying and warming trend later in the week.

Current conditions include showers and thunderstorms over northeastern Trinity County, with gusts of 25 to 40 mph observed along coastal headlands and exposed ridges. As the upper-level trough moves southward, gusty northeasterly winds of 30 to 40 mph are expected in the highest elevations of Del Norte County tonight.

Tomorrow, isolated showers may continue over southeastern Trinity, eastern Mendocino, and northern Lake counties, with a slight chance of thunderstorms. High temperatures are forecasted to be near or below normal, with inland highs ranging from the mid-60s to upper 70s and coastal temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Low temperatures in the interior valleys are expected to dip into the upper 30s to lower 40s, though frost formation is unlikely.
