MONTEREY COUNTY, CA – The National Weather Service Bay Area (NWS) has issued a caution for hikers and campers in the Chews Ridge area, located in interior Monterey County. At 7:30 p.m., temperatures dropped to 41°F with wind speeds ranging from 18 to 31 mph. The wind chill has caused the "feels like" temperature to plummet to 30°F.

Cold air continues to flow on northwesterly winds and is expected to persist through Monday. Hikers and campers at elevations of 3,500 feet and above should prepare for brisk conditions, with wind chills intensifying the cold. The NWS advises visitors to take precautions if they plan outdoor activities in the mountains.
