Residents across the Bay Area woke up to scattered showers today as a low-pressure system moved southward along the coast. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the system is expected to bring light rain through Thursday morning, followed by a warming trend heading into the weekend.

The NWS reports that most of today’s precipitation has been concentrated in the northern Santa Cruz Mountains and parts of the East Bay, where areas like Rocky Ridge recorded up to 0.06 inches of rain. As the day progresses, a rain band approaching from the north is forecasted to increase rainfall in the North Bay, though overall accumulations are expected to remain light, with most areas receiving just a trace to a few hundredths of an inch.

While rain may bring brief relief to parched areas, the system is unlikely to cause significant disruptions. A slight chance of thunderstorms exists, particularly in the North Bay this morning, with a 15% probability. Isolated thunderstorms could also develop along the Central Coast, including over the Santa Lucia Mountains, as the system moves inland by Thursday morning.

By Thursday evening, the low-pressure center will shift further east, and any remaining shower activity is expected to taper off. The NWS anticipates a warming trend for the rest of the week, with temperatures returning to seasonal norms by the weekend, offering pleasant weather for outdoor activities across the region.
