Coffee lovers in San Francisco have reason to celebrate as the city was ranked second among the “Best Coffee Cities in America,” according to a new report by WalletHub. The ranking, released on Wednesday, placed San Francisco just behind Portland, Oregon, which took the top spot.

With an overall score of 65.80, San Francisco was narrowly edged out by Portland, which scored 67.01. The two cities swapped positions from last year’s rankings, where San Francisco had claimed the title of the top coffee city in the U.S.

Spanning 49 square miles, San Francisco is home to a wealth of coffee options, with many residents living just a short walk from a coffee shop or cafe. The city’s coffee culture is not only abundant but also reflects a significant investment in high-quality brewing at home. WalletHub’s report highlighted that San Franciscans spend an average of $280 annually on coffee, the second-highest amount of any U.S. city.
