Residents of the San Joaquin Valley can expect a warming trend this week, with temperatures likely reaching the triple digits on Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Hanford, there is a 40 to 70 percent probability that highs will surpass 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the region.

The current weather pattern, influenced by a large dry upper ridge, is set to continue through the week. While temperatures will cool slightly on Wednesday and Thursday, they are expected to remain above normal for the foreseeable future.

Relative humidity levels will drop significantly, especially in Eastern Kern County, where afternoon readings may fall into the single digits. Other areas will see humidity in the teens and twenties. Overnight recovery will be limited in desert and higher elevation areas, though moderate recovery is anticipated in the valley bottom.

Following this brief cooling trend, temperatures are forecasted to rebound slightly on Friday and Saturday before another cooling phase begins next Sunday. The NWS emphasizes that the region will remain dry throughout the week, as several shortwave systems will pass through the Pacific Northwest without impacting Central California.
