The National Weather Service in Reno forecasts a dry and mild week ahead, with temperatures hovering 3 to 7 degrees above seasonal averages. Today and tomorrow will see light winds, but increased southwest winds are expected on Wednesday, raising fire weather concerns in northeast California and northwest Nevada.

Temperatures are projected to peak in the middle to upper 80s, particularly on Tuesday and Wednesday, as a ridge of high pressure moves eastward. However, as a cold front approaches, wind gusts could reach 30 mph in areas close to the Oregon border, especially in Lassen, eastern Modoc, and northern Washoe Counties. With relative humidity levels in the teens, these conditions may lead to elevated fire risks.

After a slight cooldown on Thursday, temperatures are expected to rebound toward the weekend, maintaining dry conditions across the region. The forecast indicates a potential weak upper-level low forming off the California coast by Saturday, which could bring slight changes to the weather pattern. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the situation.
