After being severely damaged by powerful winter storms that split it in two, the beloved Capitola Wharf has officially reopened to the public. Beach-goers can once again walk the full length of the repaired structure, enjoying sweeping views of Santa Cruz County's picturesque coastline.

A grand reopening ceremony will be held on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the "newly reinvigorated Capitola Wharf," according to city officials.

The repairs come after months of restoration efforts, with community volunteers playing a key role. New benches have been installed along the length of the wharf, offering visitors places to sit and take in the ocean views. While a popular restaurant that once stood at the wharf’s end had to be demolished, Capitola Boat and Bait, a family-run shop, remains a mainstay. The shop continues to serve fishermen, boaters, and kayakers, providing equipment and rentals.
