SAN FRANCISCO — Commuters are overwhelmingly pleased with their nautical travel experience, according to the San Francisco Bay Ferry’s 2024 onboard ridership survey results, released on Thursday. The survey revealed that 98% of riders are satisfied with the ferry service, highlighting its growing popularity as a stress-free alternative to traditional modes of transportation.

With one-way fares set at $5.75, or $4.50 for Clipper card users, the ferry service provides a comparable option to East Bay commuters who might otherwise take BART. However, the survey shows that commuters aren’t necessarily seeking the ferry for its cost savings. Instead, 77% of respondents stated they use the ferry primarily to reduce stress, while 65% cited the ability to avoid traffic as a key reason for their choice. Notably, nearly 90% of riders indicated they have other commuting options but choose the ferry for its convenience and relaxed atmosphere.

As the Bay Area continues to offer multiple transit options, the San Francisco Bay Ferry remains a favored choice for those looking to enjoy a less hectic daily commute.
