The National Weather Service has issued warnings for continued dangerous heat and elevated fire weather conditions across the Bay Area and Central Coast, with temperatures soaring well above normal. The heatwave, driven by strong high pressure and weak offshore flow, has created critical fire weather concerns, particularly in the interior Central Coast, through Thursday.

Morning temperatures in the hills were exceptionally high, with some areas in the mid-70s to upper 80s, and even hitting 90 degrees before sunrise. These temperatures are running 15-35 degrees above normal for early October. The heat is expected to remain a significant issue throughout the day, with widespread Extreme HeatRisk, especially in interior and hill regions.

Current heat warnings, including Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories, remain in effect as the NWS monitors conditions. Relief is expected gradually by the end of the week, but fire risks will remain elevated.

Residents are urged to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours. The NWS continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as conditions evolve.
