Las Vegas is in for continued scorching temperatures as a high-pressure system remains anchored over the region, with heat expected to persist through Monday. The National Weather Service has extended an Excessive Heat Warning for areas along the Colorado River, Morongo Basin, and Death Valley through Monday evening, as temperatures in these lower elevations are expected to approach or exceed 100 degrees.

While temperatures will still be above normal through Friday, there's a chance of more significant cooling by next weekend, depending on the strength of the approaching trough.
