FRESNO COUNTY, CA – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Fresno is reminding drivers to use turnouts when traveling in the foothills or mountains, where narrow, winding roads can often lead to congestion. In a recent post, CHP emphasized the importance of checking mirrors and being considerate of other drivers.

According to California law, drivers are required to pull over at designated turnouts when five or more vehicles are trailing behind them. CHP encouraged drivers—whether they’re behind the wheel of a car, truck, or with a furry co-pilot—to avoid creating "slow-moving parades" and let faster traffic pass.

CHP's message to drivers is clear: Be courteous, use turnouts when needed, and share the road to ensure a safer, smoother drive for everyone.
