The National Weather Service in Portland has issued an updated area forecast, indicating a weak front moving southeast across southwest Washington and northwest Oregon will bring spotty light rain tonight into early Wednesday. While the rain will primarily affect the far northwest coast this evening and the Cascades later tonight, the overall impact is expected to be minimal.

Following the front, high-pressure systems will establish over the region, leading to a warming trend with above-average temperatures expected later this week and into the weekend. However, light offshore winds may carry smoke from eastern Lane County wildfires downriver on Wednesday night and Thursday, as well as again on Friday night and Saturday.

Looking ahead, the forecast suggests that rain chances will increase significantly early next week, with a majority of global ensemble models indicating at least some precipitation returning to the area beginning as early as late Monday or as late as early Wednesday. Stay tuned for further updates as the weather pattern develops.
