FRESNO – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Fresno division is highlighting pedestrian safety throughout October in recognition of National Pedestrian Safety Month. CHP officers have been visiting schools and pedestrian crossings, demonstrating their commitment to protecting pedestrians on California’s roadways. Drivers and pedestrians alike can expect to see officers on foot patrol alongside crossing guards in various locations.

CHP emphasizes that both drivers and pedestrians share the responsibility for safety. Pedestrians are encouraged to "look left-right-left" before crossing, while drivers are reminded to slow down, especially in school zones and senior living areas.

"Everyone deserves a safe environment to travel," said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee.
