A weak weather system is moving into Northern California today, bringing scattered showers and seasonably cool temperatures to the region. According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, this system will result in daytime highs ranging from the 70s to low 80s in the Valley and Delta, with cooler temperatures in the 60s and 70s at higher elevations.

Cloud cover is expected to increase throughout the day, limiting the effects of daytime heating. Light rain showers are already being observed in parts of northeastern California and are expected to spread eastward throughout the morning, with the highest chances for precipitation in the northern and central Sacramento Valley. Areas west of Interstate 5 near Chico have a 40-70% chance of receiving more than 0.1 inches of rain, while regions between Interstate 80 and Chico have a lower probability of 15-30%.

Winds will shift from south to west in the morning to north and east later in the day, with breezy conditions likely in some areas.
