Western Washington is set to enjoy dry and mild conditions this weekend, courtesy of an upper-level ridge. However, residents should brace for a significant change as a series of frontal systems are expected to bring rain, high mountain snow, and gusty winds throughout the upcoming week.

This morning, isolated areas of patchy to dense fog are affecting the region, particularly in the Southwest Interior and south Puget Sound. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, leaving extra space and using low-beam headlights, especially on high-speed freeways. Once the fog clears, Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with highs reaching around 70 degrees.

As the weekend progresses, low-level offshore flow will contribute to another mild afternoon on Sunday, though early morning cloud coverage may linger due to a shift in winds. High clouds will begin to filter in by Sunday afternoon ahead of an approaching frontal system.

By Monday, light rain is anticipated to spread across the coast before dawn, with some precipitation reaching interior areas by the afternoon. However, the initial frontal system is expected to be weak, bringing only light rainfall.
