The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued an updated forecast, indicating that above-normal temperatures will persist through midweek before a significant cooldown begins on Wednesday. This change will be accompanied by gusty winds and the possibility of precipitation, although specific details remain uncertain at this time.

Currently, a compact closed low over north-central Nevada is bringing a few clouds to northeastern Nevada and Utah. As it drifts southeast, the low is expected to settle over southeastern Nevada, southern Utah, and Arizona by Tuesday, resulting in a slight drop in temperatures and additional cloud cover, particularly in Lincoln County and northern Mohave County. However, any precipitation is expected to be confined to the higher terrains of southern Utah and far northern Arizona.

A more significant weather pattern is set to arrive midweek, with a potent longwave trough approaching the western states on Wednesday and Thursday. This system will bring breezy to windy conditions and further cooling, particularly by Thursday.

Forecast models indicate uncertainty for the period from Friday to Sunday, with varying predictions for a deeper, slower closed low developing around the Four Corners region. Depending on its evolution, temperatures could drop significantly, with Las Vegas experiencing a range of high temperatures between the upper 60s to low 80s.

Increased chances of precipitation are anticipated, especially for the eastern half of the forecast area, with probabilities showing a 40% to 50% chance of more than half an inch of rain in northeast Lincoln and northern Mohave Counties. Some snowfall is also likely, particularly at elevations of 6,000 to 6,500 feet across northern Lincoln County, where there’s a 20% to 25% chance of receiving more than three inches.
