The National Weather Service (NWS) reports a cooling trend in temperatures across the Phoenix area, although highs will remain above normal through at least the middle of the upcoming week. Today's forecast indicates potential record-high temperatures, with chances of hitting or exceeding 100°F.

As a longwave ridge continues to dominate the western United States, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is projected to have a 93% probability of tying high-temperature records today, with an 85% chance for tomorrow. However, these are expected to be the last days with widespread triple-digit temperatures, as localized cooling begins.

A weak closed low moving toward the Great Basin is anticipated to bring seasonal temperatures and breezy conditions starting Tuesday. Late in the week, a weather system may introduce slight chances of rain, particularly north and east of Phoenix. Ensemble models show differing predictions on the extent of cooling, with some indicating a deeper trough could bring more significant temperature drops by Friday.
