The Port of Oakland reported a 7% increase in loaded container volume for September 2024 compared to the same period last year. Import growth led the charge, with a 10.4% rise, handling 82,180 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) compared to 74,428 in 2023. Export volume also saw a 2.9% uptick, processing 61,466 TEUs.

Maritime Director Bryan Brandes attributed the growth to a holiday season supply push and a strong agricultural export market, with the Port serving as a key gateway for California's Central Valley farming region.
