Los Angeles Metro Achieves Major Milestone with Over 1 Million Weekday Riders in September

Los Angeles Metro announced a significant achievement this September, averaging over 1 million weekday riders for the first time since the pandemic began.

In September, the agency's combined bus and rail ridership reached 86.4% of its pre-pandemic levels from September 2019, surpassing the national transit average of 76%. Average weekday boardings on Metro reached 83.6% of September 2019 levels, while weekend ridership stood at 96.6% of the pre-pandemic figure.

Metro recorded a total of 20,912,410 trips taken on its buses in September, reflecting a 6.9% increase compared to the same month last year.

This milestone also marks the 22nd consecutive month of year-over-year ridership growth.
