For the first time in months, Southern California to be free of Triple-Digit Heat this Week

The National Weather Service in San Diego reports that cooler-than-average temperatures and minor chances of precipitation will persist through Wednesday, with a deeper marine layer affecting coastal and adjacent inland valleys. As a large trough of low pressure moves into the western states later this week, it is expected to develop into a cut-off low pressure system, leading to further cooling and the possibility of light rain by Thursday or Friday.

This afternoon, low clouds have cleared in many coastal areas, allowing temperatures to rise into the 70s and lower 80s. However, a coastal eddy is anticipated to deepen the marine layer tonight, resulting in low cloud coverage by dawn. Similar conditions are expected on Wednesday morning, with a 50-80% chance of light drizzle during the morning commute for areas west of the mountains.

Temperatures will remain uniform over the next few days, with highs expected to be around 5 degrees below normal for coastal areas. Inland regions will see further cooling as the trough moves in, with forecasts indicating highs below 95 degrees from Palm Springs to Ocotillo Wells by Wednesday. Most areas west of the mountains are projected to experience temperatures in the 70s and 80s during this period.
